Training Programs
Clinical Alliance Services, LLC (CAS) offers postgraduate training to clinicians across multiple disciplines, as well as to students enrolled in APA-accredited clinical psychology or counseling programs. As we value interdisciplinary training, our Fellows participate in seminars and group supervision alongside colleagues from allied disciplines (e.g., psychology, social work, mental health counseling). We currently offer the following training programs:
Psychology Internship
As a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC), CAS offers a full-time 12-month (2000 hour) Psychology Internship that is ideal for doctoral candidates interested in relational psychodynamic and attachment-based psychotherapy approaches, and in working with emerging adults, college students, and adult populations. The general aim of the internship program is to support interns in developing a proficiency in assessment and intervention skills for adult populations across a wide variety of identities, with a specific emphasis on training in relational psychodynamic psychotherapy. In addition to specialized training in relational psychodynamic and attachment-based psychotherapy, the internship ensures breadth of training through exposure to a wide variety of presenting concerns, treatment modalities, and evidence-based intervention approaches, preparing interns for entry-level independent practice. In accordance with APA guidelines, the training program is designed to support interns in developing proficiency in the following core competence domains: research, ethical & legal standards, individual & cultural diversity, professional values & attitudes, communication & interpersonal skills, assessment, intervention, supervision, and consultation & interprofessional/interdisciplinary skills. We anticipate two open positions for the 2026-2027 academic year. See the Psychology Internship Handbook for additional information.
The Psychology Internship starts the week of August 24, 2026 and terminates on August 23, 2027. Our program is a member of the Association of Psychology and Postdoctoral Centers (APPIC), is in compliance with APPIC membership policies, and participates in the APPIC Match. Applications are due by November 15, 2025 and should be submitted via the Internship Application (AAPI) Portal. Applicants will be notified of interview invitations by December 8, 2025.
11/18/2025 Update for Potential Psychology Internship Applicants: We recently received confirmation that we will be able to offer an optional comprehensive assessment training rotation during the upcoming training year. Because this development was finalized after the original application deadline, our deadline has been extended to December 1st. Intern applicants who have completed a minimum of five integrated assessment reports and have administered/scored at least one R-PAS protocol during their doctoral training will be eligible to elect participation in this rotation. No decision regarding participation in the rotation is required during the application or interview process; interns will make this decision only after the Match. Additionally, for all interns, including those who do not participate in the assessment rotation, the summer Psychodynamic Couples Therapy Seminar described in our training manual will be replaced with an Assessment Seminar for the upcoming training year to ensure that all interns receive additional assessment training commensurate with their level of professional development. Fellows who elect to participate in the assessment rotation will receive supervised training in the selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide range of psychological, neuropsychological, and projective/ performance-based instruments, including the Rorschach Performance Assessment System (R-PAS), Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), Rey–Osterrieth Complex Figure Test, Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale–Fifth Edition (WAIS–5), California Verbal Learning Test (CVLT), MIGDAS, Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RMET), Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire (CAT-Q), and the Yale–Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS), as well as relevant self-report measures (e.g., BDI-II, BAI, DES-II, TSC). Fellows will learn to integrate assessment data through a psychodynamic conceptual framework, engage thoughtfully with cultural context and test limitations, and formulate clinically grounded recommendations for treatment, academic accommodations, and therapeutic guidance. Fellows electing this rotation will complete approximately 8 to 12 integrated assessment batteries over the course of the year and will schedule up to 20 psychotherapy sessions per week, rather than the standard 26, to allow for 10 hours of assessment service delivery, including scoring, report writing, and feedback sessions, as well as an additional weekly group supervision dedicated specifically to assessment. Potential applicants should note that the Psychology Internship Handbook has not yet been updated to reflect this new training opportunity.
